Summer School Uniforms for Delhi NCR: Staying Cool From April to June

Delhi NCR summers are among the hottest in India, and the first term of the academic year falls right in the middle of them. A uniform designed only for appearance can make students miserable. Here is how schools in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad can plan better summer uniforms.

Fabric choices for heat

  • Shirts: cotton-rich or lightweight poly-cotton blends that breathe and absorb sweat.
  • Bottoms: lighter-weight PV or cotton blends; avoid heavy suiting in summer.
  • Sportswear: moisture-wicking polyester knits that dry quickly.

Our GSM guide explains how fabric weight affects comfort.

Design choices

  • Half sleeves for summer shirts
  • Lighter colours for shirts, which absorb less heat
  • Optional ties, or ties only for assemblies
  • Shorts or skirts for junior classes

Plan a two-season uniform

Many NCR schools run separate summer and winter uniforms. The summer set stays light, and the winter set adds sweaters, blazers and heavier bottoms. See our winter uniform rollout guide.

Timing your summer order

Because the session starts in April, summer uniforms need to be ready by March. Work back from that date; read how early schools should order uniforms.

Frequently asked questions

Is 100% cotton best for summer?

It is very comfortable but creases and fades faster. A cotton-rich blend balances comfort and care.

Should summer and winter shirts differ?

Often yes. Lighter fabric and half sleeves for summer, full sleeves for winter.
